Now that the cold weather has finally arrived in Barcelona as well, roasting stalls are popping up all over the city and everywhere it smells of roasted sweet potatoes and chestnuts.
That made me think that having chestnuts roasting over an open fire would be a great idea for a fall or winter wedding reception…
If such rustic appetizer is not for you, or if you’re worried about the smoke and the smell it leaves, you could also give chestnuts as favors, complete with roasting instructions. I love this idea!
Another culinary delight that is slowly coming back into season here in Spain are “churros con chocolate”. I haven’t had any yet this fall, but they are definitely on my list for this weekend! Churros, a fried dough-pastry, are typically served with incredibly dense and sweet hot chocolate to be dipped in.
They make the perfect midnight snack after wine and cocktails, that’s why “churrerías” here are open until the wee hours of the morning. I’m pretty sure your guests will love you if you serve them churros well into the night and the dancing.
