Jana and Fabrizio choose Positano for their Italian destination wedding. Says the bride:
“Since I knew that I would not have much time before the wedding to meet with the florist and the venues to explain my vision for the wedding, I wanted a location that would be beautiful on its own without huge flower arrangements or décor. The gorgeous backdrop of Positano with the bougainvillea, colorful buildings, dramatic landscape and the Mediterranean Sea was all that was needed.”
That, and the gorgeous bride, I might add, made for this wonderful dolce vita-inspired wedding… see for yourselves!
From the bride: “The glamorous past of Italy in the 50’s & 60’s was the inspiration for mine and the wedding parties’ attire. I watched old Italian movies such as “La Dolce Vita” and looked at old photos of Italian stars such as Sophia Loren for inspiration for everything from my hair, birdcage veil to the cut of the neckline of my dress. I wanted an elegant, timeless look that was reminiscent of the time when Positano was filled with intellectuals, artists, and celebrities such as Escher, Steinbeck, Picasso, Zeffirelli and Liz Taylor.”
When asked for advice for future destination brides, Jana says: “Keep it simple! Focus on a few details that are important to you and then let the backdrop of the location be the decoration.”
“My Marriage in Positano and my love of the Mediterranean culture led me to launch a business offering unique specialty food, gifts, decor and party favors that evoke the feel of the Mediterranean, as well as a Mediterranean Lifestyle blog. The concept of Mediterraneogifts.com is to share my finds and quality gifts that recall the sights, tastes and feel of my trips to the Mediterranean.”
The bride did the calligraphy for the escort cards herself. They were placed in small bottles with a cork, like a “message in a bottle”, and, in keeping with the seaside theme, placed in a glass container with sand and seashells.
