Mercedes is Spanish, Farooq is from Bangladesh and together they have lived all over the world… a truly international couple. At the moment they reside in Switzerland and chose the Costa Brava as a central place in Europe where they could unite all of their family and friends to celebrate their nuptials.
The groom wanted a place with history and view of the Mediterranean Sea, so wedding coordinator Carole from Marry Me in Spain suggested the monastery in Blanes… an incredible location overlooking the sea from a cliff. It doesn’t get more Mediterranean than this, does it?
From the wedding coordinator: “The couple has two children and Farooq had been wanting to get married for years. Mercedes finally said yes, but made it clear that he was going to be in charge of organizing it all, something which he thoroughly enjoyed. In the end, however, it was her who got really excited on the wedding day itself!”
Says Marry Me in Spain: “We wanted to give the celebration a Mediterranean feel, so we had a paella station, rustic Mediterranean décor and as a guest book, provided postcards from Barcelona adorned with the same wax seal as used on the invitations.”
