We featured Jess and Vincent’s glamorous engagement session a few months back, so I am very excited to have the (civil) wedding of this French couple on the blog today! Jess is an interior designer and had her mind set on “something different, and not really romantic but a bit vintage and fun” for the celebration. As a venue, they chose an elegant “chambre d’hôte” in Sète, a historic and quaint fishing port in Southern France, according to Jess “the most charming place ever that I have ever decorated”.
Taking her cues from the setting, the bride went for a nautical theme in white and blue. She herself donned a vintage-inspired short Delphine Manivet wedding dress, complemented by a birdcage veil and red lips. Love it!
From the bride: “Our day was magical and so much better than I ever could have dreamed. The morning was spent with my mother and bridesmaids at my office getting ready, along with my trusted hairdresser and make-up artist. I wore a Delphine Manivert short dress and Yves Saint-Laurent blue shoes that kept my look contemporary, edgy but with that special French touch. My husband Vincent looked so handsome in his handmade suit from a wonderful atelier in Paris. Our first look was emotional and filled with tears, and laughs.”
“Back at the chambre d’hôte, the party began! It was so incredible to have the closest people we love surrounding us and I just cried my way through the night! In lieu of a seated dinner, we held a “cocktail dinatoire”, which is akin to a cocktail reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres. It really keeps the party moving and allows for guests to chat and mingle more. Champagne and two signature cocktails flowed generously throughout the evening.”
Loving the chevron table runners and handmade paper boat garlands!
“I was intent on a blue rainbow cake, but it was a real challenge to convince the caterer to use blue. He kept telling me, perhaps a traditional French response with respect to his pastries and cuisine, “Blue is NOT a color for food…no one will eat a BLUE cake!” But for the first time in his life, he did it. His staff was shocked, I was thrilled and I hope…so were the guests!”
