This French-German-British wedding in the wonderful village of Roussillon in Provence-Alpes-Cote D’Azur, France, stole my heart the moment I laid eyes on it. What a stunning setting! The light pink of the houses and the darker orange of the cliffs made for the most colorful and scenic backdrop imaginable. Says the bride: “Let’s find a place to get lost – that was what we were looking for. A cosy place. A tiny village. A picturesque landscape. A typical Provençal surrounding – our “coin perdu”. Imagine getting married at a place which fills your heart with warmness, happiness, joy and pride. I showed Ben the region where my family is from the first time in 2011 – he loved it as well so we started to plan our special day. Roussillon – mon amour!”
Kristina Assenova was there to capture the couple’s happy day and the magical Provencal atmosphere… and we’re loving every single image of it!
From the bride: “As a wedding gift and memory of this day I made a handkerchief for Ben – something to wear close to his heart; in his breast pocket. The embroidery was saying “ever thine, ever mine, ever ours” – I think every girls knows where this comes from – no explanation needed.”
“Ben gave me a wedding bouquet which was like the one I ever wished for: tender, light, enchanted, fairylike, romantic and unique. I dried it and it is now hanging from our ceiling in Munich.”
“We had a wonderful wedding day with a heart melting ceremony, a breath-taking landscape which surrounded us, happy guests, amazing food, a very good party and unique memories….so we found our “coin perdu”…in France, freshly shored in our hearts.”
The bride about the venue and decorations: “We found the little village called Roussillon, also known as “one of the most beautiful villages in France”. There is only one Restaurant with a stunning 180° view of the landscape. You actually have the feeling to be able to fly over the cliffs – amazing: The hotel Le Clos de la Glycine – a small, typical and adorable French Hotel/Restaurant. There was no doubt this has to be our first choice venue for our location. Our decoration was all in white and cream white colours. We had over 20 pom-poms hanging from the ceiling. We had white gypsophila flowers in small vases and white candles. My mother ordered handmade serviettes with the sewn-in delicate letters J&B, surrounded by lavender. I think these serviettes had the longest journey from everything and everyone else at our wedding: They came all the way over from Madagascar where friends of us live. For our seating arrangement we were thinking of something special. We wanted to have a symbol which suits a wedding, love, togetherness and entering a new part of life together. So what do you need to enter a room or the like? The right key. So we collected 60 antique and rusty keys labelled them with a handwritten name tags and hung them on a big wooden board. “Take a key to find your table and enter an unforgettable night” – was the slogan for the night.”
