Legend has it that when Portugal’s Algarve was ruled by the Arabs, young prince Ibn-Almundim fell madly in love with a beautiful northern princess by the name of Gilda. They got married, but Gilda didn’t find happiness, for she missed the snow-covered fields of her northern homeland. So the prince, desperate to cure his wife from her homesickness, ordered the planting of thousands of almond-trees all over the province. When they blossomed, they covered the southern lands with white petals, recalling snow and thus making Gilda forget her melancholy.
Inspired by this story, Momento Cativo Photography gathered a few amazing vendors and set up a beautiful almond blossoms inspirational shoot. Transporting it to modern days and northern Portugal, their gorgeous images tell the story of Olivia and David’s wedding day, surrounded pale pink and white almond blossoms… I cannot imagine a more idyllic and romantic setting than this!
