Remember the personality-filled Apulia wedding from earlier today? Well, our quirky couple decided to make a weekend of it and I thought I’d share the Friday beach cocktail party and Sunday barbecue as well, also organized by In the Mood for Love.
Lost of destination couples offer a Friday evening and/or Sunday morning activity for their guests, who’ve travelled from afar and will most likely be there an entire weekend anyway. Now, if it’ll be a traditional rehearsal dinner or a casual beach party, an elegant Sunday champagne brunch or a crazy barbecue pool party… that’s up to you, but for now let’s see how Anabel and Frederick did it:
From the bride: “Friday’s welcome party was inspired by the setting – beautiful southern Italy. We wanted something that would be quintessential Italian and classic. This is why we thought a seaside cocktail party would be perfect. The black and white attire added to the Italian feel since it brought some sophistication to everyone’s look, while still having the relaxed feeling of being in Puglia.”
Moving on to the Sunday pool party…
From the bride: “On Sunday, the inspiration was quirky fun in a gorgeous setting. We chose bold orange and royal blue as colors because they felt fun and happy. Aperol Spritz was the drink of the day – which looked great because it was also orange! And a classic Italian cocktail of course. Our wedding planner rented colorful parasols, which looked beautiful but were also practical since the day was quite sunny and warm. We knew everyone would be a bit tired from Saturday, but also in a relaxed mood because the formalities were over an now it was time for pure R&R. An amazing jazz band provided a soundtrack for the day.”
We had a Tequila donkey (provided by a nearby farmer), which was inspired by our Mexican theme. Our wedding planner made a blanket for the donkey with pockets, which held bottles of tequila and shots were given to guests.
