Today’s featured wedding is so elegant and intimate – held in a private villa in Ibiza. Last week, we featured Sabrina and Matt’s engagement shoot at the old Ibiza town. Now we’re featuring their wedding! Both photographed by Ana Lui.
What we especially like about the occasion is the bride’s hands-on involvement in the process – which includes a lot of pretty DIY stuff! The couple did most of the event preparations with the help of their friends and family and it turned out pretty nice.
We’re sharing some notes of the bride below on how she came up with the different elements of their special day kept to a budget.
“I designed the stationery set myself and my sister helped produce it using her Sillouete laser-blade printer.”
“For my dress, my mom embroidered a belt with Swarovsky crystals and mini pearl beads and I spent 20 hours doing my own veil: I bought all materials at Etsy and watched many tutorials at YouTube. It was a lot of work, but also very gratifying!”
“Don’t save on a wedding bouquet! When you look at the photos, it makes all the difference. Also, don’t save on hair and make-up artist! Your photos will only look good if you really look good!”
“Even if you are trying to do a lot of things yourself to have a budget-friendly wedding, make sure you hire the best photographer you can. It’s a very special day and you want to keep fond memories of it.”
“The centerpieces at the dining table were mason jars that Matt bought at the nearest grocery store and I spray painted them in gold.”
“One day before the wedding, I wrapped all the menus and napkins with jute, adding the name tag to it! I also did a loop bag for the kids, with stickers, crayons, and coloring books from the dollarstore which kept them busy during dinner.”
“The polaroid camera and photo props are great ideas. It was a big hit, guests had a lot of fun, and I got to keep a lot of funny photos of them!”
Asked what she would advise brides-to-be planning to be hands-on with their own wedding, Sandra said: “I would try to delegate more! Before the wedding I was doing everything by myself. At the wedding day however, I had written a map of all stations and how I wanted everything placed. While I was getting dressed and having my hair and make-up done, my older sister, cousin, aunt, and brother and sister-in-law worked very hard to pull everything together! It was beautiful and saved me a lot of stress!”
