After the winter bride and smokey eye tutorial, Sarah Miller Makeup is on the blog once more, and today she’ll show us a beautiful bridal look in natural bronze hues, plus an easy-peasy hair style for brides with curly hair. Let’s start with the make-up:
Step one: Prep the skin with a hydrating face lotion and unify tone with foundation.
Step two: Contour the face with a darker foundation, seal with powder and
apply a matte bronzing powder (for a more detailed explanation of the foundation and contouring process, including product recommendations, see step 1-4 here).
Step three: To create warmth in the skin, we used “Coral Flush” blush by Sephora. Coral tones give a light and happy effect to the skin.
Step four: With Johanna, we wanted to bring out her amazing blue eyes so we used gold, bronze, and brown tones of eyeshadow. Start by lining the eyes with a dark brown eyeliner.
Step five: Apply a champagne gold eyeshadow, such as “Honey Pot” by Too Faced on the inner corner of the eyes. Over the crease and lid, apply a darker, orangey gold such as “Ochre” by MAC. To really define the eyes and add a bit of drama, blend a dark brown shadow into the crease, such as “Espresso” by Too Faced. Finish off the eyes with black mascara.
Step six: On Johanna’s lips, we used a toasted brown lipstick, “Sienne Brulee” by Mary Kay, to offset her eyes.
And in case you’re wondering about this low updo, I think this is a great idea if you have curly hair but aren’t quite sure what to do with it. On our model, there was no need to add volume or use bobby pins… the curls did all the work themselves:
Step one: Gather most of your curly hair at the nape of your neck, leaving some loose pieces to frame the face, and prepare with an elastic band in hand.
Step two: Place elastic band around the hair, twisting as if you were going to make a ponytail.
Step three: Instead of pulling the ponytail all the way through, leave the hair in bun form and place the ends strategically around the bun.
Step four: To make this look truly bridal, place a white flower or a shiny hair adornment to finish it off!
